The Talimena Scenic Drive offers breathtaking panoramas of the east-west ranges of the Ouachita Mountains. This curving drive winds 54 miles west along the spine of Rich Mountain and Winding Stair Mountain. Between Mena, AR, and Talihina, OK, the drive offers scenic vistas, historical sites, camping, picnicking, hiking, Queen Wilhelmina State Park, Visitor Information Stations, and Robert S. Kerr Memorial Arboretum and Nature Center and Botanical Area.

The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma Capitol Museum
The Choctaw Capitol Museum is located in the Choctaw Capitol Building on the Tvshka Homma grounds (between Clayton and Talihina). This impressive red-brick structure was built in 1884 and served as the Capitol of the Choctaw Nation until 1907. Today, it is on the National Register of Historic Places. Choctaw Nation Tribal Court is still held here. The Museum features displays on Choctaw history before European contact, the Trail of Tears, Choctaw life in Oklahoma, the Lighthorsemen, the Choctaw Code Talkers, Choctaw basketry, a gift shop selling Choctaw-made artwork, and much more.
The Museum is open to the public Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm; closed on holidays. Admittance is free.

Robbers Cave offers trout fishing in season, boating, hunting, mountain biking, trails for hikers and horses, sandstone cliffs for climbing and rappelling, and beautiful fall foliage. It is historically notable as a former hideout for infamous outlaws Belle Starr and Jesse James.

Talimena State Park is the entrance to the Talimena Scenic Drive. It is located 7 miles north of Talihina. It offers camping, hiking, biking, and wildlife watching. Talimena State Park is the western end of the Ouachita National Recreation Trail.
Sardis Lake – Clayton, OK
Sardis Lake is located five miles north of Clayton, Oklahoma, along Oklahoma Highway 2. It has beautiful views of the Ouachita Mountains, Kiamichi Mountains, and the Potato Hills. There are three campgrounds located around the lake. Sardis Lake is known for producing several of Oklahoma's largest bass. The lake also provides fishermen excellent opportunities to catch crappie, catfish, and walleye. Sardis Lake offers fishing, boating, camping, picnicking, a swimming beach, and a playground.

Three Sticks & John F. Kennedy Memorial – Big Cedar, OK
The Three Sticks monument symbolize land, wood, and water. It recognizes Kerr, U.S. Sen. Mike Monroney, U.S. Rep. Carl Albert, Gov. Raymond Gary and R.G. Miller for their contributions to conservation in southeastern Oklahoma. Three Sticks is a monument of three giant sticks that stand beside Highway US 259 about eight miles south of the John F. Kennedy Memorial in Big Cedar, OK. The JFK Memorial honors President Kennedy for dedicating the final stretch of US 259 in October 29, 1961, opening up Oklahoma to commerce and tourism.

Kiamichi Trail (K-Trail)
The Kiamichi Trail is a notorious offroad trail in Oklahoma running east-west across the Kiamichi Mountains. The western portion begins in Clayton, OK and ends at the Three Sticks Monument in Big Cedar, OK. It is now privately owned and cannot be used. The eastern portion of the trail travels county and forest service roads and is completely open to all who dare to drive it. The K-Trail now starts at Three Sticks Monument, heading east towards Mena. Please refer to the USFS MVUM (motor vehicle use map) for legal forest roads. There is no gas, water, or food available on the route. The trail changes drastically with big rain storms. Please be respectful of private property that is on either side of the trail. The trail is very remote. The trail crosses pavement at two locations, the Indian Highway South of Talihina, and Hwy 63 South of Big Cedar at the Three Sticks Monument.
Bee Creek & Dryer Mountain Trail
Explore this 14.5-mile point-to-point trail near Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Generally considered a moderately challenging route. This trail is great for off-road driving, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.
